Frank Wrathall is ready for Brands Hatch challenge
Frank Wrathall is preparing to continue his podium finish results this weekend as the ninth round of the BTCC 2011 continues.
The talented driver has taken the championship by storm with a string of outstanding performances resulting in four podium finishes during the rounds at Knockhill and Rockingham, securing maximum Independent points and setting a new BTCC lap record at Rockingham.
This weekend Frank and the Angel branded NGTC Toyota Avensis will face the challenge of the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent, known for its challenging mix of sweeping bends. Frank who is sponsored by Angel Springs the UK’s fastest growing supplier of both, bottled and mains fed water coolers believes the circuit is ideal for his turbo charged Avensis commenting,
“I think a good chunk of it will suit us; the Toyota should come into its own on the fast parts of the Grand Prix loop; possibly the only weak spot might be up the hill from Surtees, where the extra weight we carry could be a disadvantage.I went well at Brands Hatch last year in the Ginetta, and it’s one of my favorite circuits, so I am looking forward to the challenge.”
After just missing out on his first BTCC win in race two at Rockingham and achieving three third place finishes and a second, talk in the paddock has been about whether Frank will get the first NGTC win of the championship. Feeling the pressure the 24 year old from Preston said,
“To have come so close, if we now don’t get a win we will perhaps be disappointed… But in the bigger picture, getting on to the podium in our first BTCC season, finishing second and setting fastest laps is more than we ever imagined possible. It’s a strange situation to be in. If you had asked us our realistic target at the beginning of the year, we would have said a top-10 finish by the end of the season. We are way beyond that already…”
Be sure to tune in this weekend and look out for Frank and his Angel branded car, live this Sunday on ITV4 and ITV4 HD from 11:30am to 6pm with highlights on later ITV1.
