Employees from Angel Springs the UK’s leading service provider of both bottled and mains fed water coolers, took part in the first Bupa Great Birmingham Run took place last month on Sunday 23rd October in Birmingham City Centre. Over 15,000 runners took part in the 13.1 mile half marathon starting in the Centre of Birmingham and covered many of Birmingham’s landmarks including, Centenary Square, Edgbaston cricket ground, and the world renowned Bourneville home of Cadburys, before heading back to Broad Street in the city centre for the home straight. To keep the runners entertained many local bands including a Gospel Choir, steel drummers and a samba band that showed there support by performing live throughout the day. The main attraction was the attendance of the world’s greatest distance runner Haile Gebrselassie, who took part and was first to cross the finishing in a time of 1:01:29. Amongst the winner there were many other professional athletes including Britain’s Gemma Steel who was the first woman across the finishing line securing a PB of 1:12:21. Julia Warrilow, Andrea Brazier and Jane Plested from the accounts department all took part and completed the race which is a great accomplishment and managed to raise over £400 in the process.
