Did you know that water plays a vital role in your fitness goals? Experts believe that as much as 80 per cent of your results will come from good nutrition. And water is a cornerstone of staying fit and healthy. Water acts as a conduit for every function within your body, from keeping it cool, to detoxifying your organs and helping to keep your bodily functions regulating efficiently. Water also supports all of your body's electrical pulses and makes up around 70 per cent of our entire composition! To reap the benefits of a workout, make sure you start the session hydrated. Use the bottled water coolers at work and avoid expensive and sugary formulations which simply provide your body with excess sugars. Bottled water coolers are the ideal source of clean, fresh and filtered water, which is all that your body needs to stay hydrated. If you drink water when it is very cold, remember that it can cause a stitch, so save the icy cold treats for periods away from your main training sessions. Slightly chilled water is ideal for taste and enjoyment, but remember hot drinks are just as valuable if you are training on cold days - try a green tea for its thermogenic properties! Sip from your bottle during exercise, and then afterwards enjoy a drink, perhaps with a whey protein shake if you are looking to build your strength and muscle mass, or with a splash of fruit juice or low sugar cordial if you need to boost your recovery. Your choice of drink will depend on your ultimate workout goals, and objectives but water should always lie at the heart of every nutritional decision, and will influence the success or failure of your workout regime!
