So, by taking time to formally detox every so often, we can help our bodies regain their balance and often kick-start a healthier way of living. First, you don't need to buy expensive preparations, as your body is well equipped to do what it needs. Basic water will help your skin and liver in particular do their job, so fill up a big jug of water at the office water coolers in the morning, or opt for herbal teas at the hot water dispensers. Avoid caffeine during your detox, as it stresses the adrenal glands and dulls the skin. It also acts as a diuretic, which means that our bodies actually lose water. Instead, fill up with the pure stuff and eat more fruits and vegetables. Don't eat sugar, processed food or chemicals during your detox and instead fill up on natural fruits, supplemented with lean protein, nuts, seeds and healthy fats, such as olive oil and avocados. Get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air, walking where you can. Forget high intensity and stressful exercise during the detox process; try yoga instead for calming and meditative effects.
